Brown Butter Pecan Cookies

Ingredients:

  • 3/4 cups butter browned
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 egg + 1 egg yolk
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • pinch of salt
  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 2 cups chopped pecans
  1. To brown the butter: Melt the butter in a small saucepan on medium low heat stirring frequently, make sure the butter does not boil. The butter should start separating and after 10-15 minutes brown bits should start to form on the bottom and the top should start to foam.
  2. Mix together the sugars with the browned butter until combined. Mix in egg, vanilla and salt until combined. Incorporate the flour, baking soda and baking powder. Mix until no more streaks of flour remain, do not over mix. Fold in the pecans and let the dough chill for 30 minutes.
  3. Preheat your oven to 350F and line two baking sheets with parchment paper. Scoop cookie dough onto the baking sheet 2 inches apart from each other. Bake for 10-12 minutes.
